"Danny" Traylor became one of
the most sought-after prospects in North Carolina after his junior year as a 7'0" prep star. Upon graduation, he was deluded with
scholarship offers from dozens of Division I colleges/coaches, including Kentucky (Adolph ''the Baron" Rupp), UNC-Chapel Hill (Dean
Smith), UCLA (John Wooten), Davidson ("Lefty" Driesell) Wake Forest, Duke, N.C. State, Alabama, Tennessee and the South Carolina "Gamecocks."
Coach Frank McGuire; the fonner world-famous mentor at Carolina (UNC), impressed "Danny" with his enthusiastic and "dapper" approach
to recruiting blue-chip players. Traylor became a "Gamecock" and he helped rule the roost during his four-year collegiate career.
This R.J. Reynolds High All-America (23ppg., 17rpg, defensive giant and shot blocker) now joins a select group of his peers who are
WS/FC High School Hall of Famers": Steve Joyner, Teddy East, Wilke "Super Sub" Griffin, and Nigel Alston
Presently, Traylor enjoys
his Supervisory position with Reynolds American Tobacco Co.
