1969- All-State Scholastic Award (Greensboro Daily News) ,

Matriculated at J.C. Smith University and switch to power forward- played four (4) years and was named Most Valuable Player 1972

Was with the track team 4 years, as they won 4 consecutive State Championships, won a State Championship for Atkins by out-jumping Smith's Bob McAdoo in his specialty (High jump).

Presently: Outreach counselor with the Electronic Monitoring Program for the City of Richmond, Virginia
